Introduction to User Experience (UX) Design

User Experience (UX) is the overall experience of a person using an application, a website, or a physical product. UX design is an essential component of any development process because it addresses the needs of customers in a way that puts user satisfaction at the center. Through a series of hands-on projects, the participants will learn basic UX design concepts, methodologies, and best practices. This course prepares those in both design and programming roles to think like designers and approach problems creatively in order to build user-friendly and efficient apps, websites, and digital products. By the end of the course, students will be able to: — Identify and implement effective methods of user research. — Apply information architecture methodologies in order to organize large amounts of information. — Use key interaction design heuristics and practices to design the behavior of digital products in support of user goals. — Communicate the use and function of a digital product through visual design to ensure that users can effectively interact with that product. — Create product mockups and interactive prototypes. — Articulate and communicate their design concepts and ideas verbally and visually. — Take into account business requirements and technical constraints during their design process. — Work with a team of fellow designers, programmers, and other stakeholders.
